Statement: Digital Friends is a digital scan of two of my best friends. My goal for this piece was to bring to mind the ideas of technology in the modern world and how it is influencing social connections.
Over the course of experimenting with my scanner, I gave my friends simple instructions: put your faces close together on the scanner. Being this close to each other immediately caused them to feel uncomfortable, and what was meant to be a "serious" image turned out to be a depiction of a social-physical boundary, curiously, being broken by technology, when it is often assumed that technology creates distance in relationships.
